01:32 pm - She's the smoke, she's dancin' fancy pirouettes... Things rarely meet the expectations we have for them I guess the best one could hope for is to love someone anyways To embrace imperfection and mistakes Dote on flaws And look back fondly one day on those things that went wrong Maybe personal responisbility and spontaneity are the keys to a kinder world If there's one things I know... In my memory, the times we got lost and random nights Are much more dear then the plans and the times we got there.
All the books in the world won't listen to me when I'm down This laptop won't keep me warm at night And try as I might to convince it to, My car won't go on adventures when I'm alone It also rarely laughs with me.
I guess what I'm saying is I just want another story.

02:13 am - I want to show you just how fascinating kissing can be... So life has been kinda awesome from June 17 on. Florida and the week and a half after were beyond amazing. East Jordan was lots of fun. And the past four days with Justin were just ridiculously awesome. Over the past month I have met some awesome people, got addicted to Red Faction and then Zelda again, went to Disney for the first time since 1998, experienced the awesome of Deadpool, pretty much geeked out in every possible way and have loved it,gone tubing again, gotten closer to family, gotten lost in the Ren Cen, learned to appreciate Detroit, seen some good movies, had some good conversations, enjoyed the best steak in my life...I could probably go on for hours. Now the rest of my summer just needs to keep up.
It's going to be kinda odd though. The past four days have been how my mind defines summer now...goofing off with Justin and being annoying, arguing with him, random times with him and Kayla, late nights, life feeling full...I don't want to go back to feeling empty. Summer before June 17 kinda sucked.
I guess my new laptop can amuse me, at the very least. Xp It's purple. And ridiculously awesome. Current Mood: Bittersweet

03:50 pm - We light a fire, ignite and burn
So I've been feeling really insecure about some things lately. Most passed, but one umbrella category keeps sticking around. I don't know what to do. I don't want to keep bothering people with it. Just nothing seems to stick. It's kinda getting disruptive. Doesn't help that the person who could help really isn't... But I can't expect people to always say the right things. Especially honest people.
Exploring the last 7 days on flickr helps. Although it just kinda makes me want to go somewhere. Like Moorea. I really want to go to Moorea. I'll settle for the semester being over, though. Then I can make definite summer plans. And fall plans. Knowing where I'll be would be nice. xp
I need money, but I kind of hope I don't work tonight. I need to get a lot of work done for next week. Particularly Lit...my paper, the 20 page extra credit, and preparing for the final. It would also be nice to not have to write a million History essays in one day. I'm just glad PolySci is easy. I could do that real fast Monday night. I really don't feel like doing anything, though. Just going for a walk, picking up my check, reading my book... Ah, well. Soon enough, summer. Current Mood: odd

08:41 pm - I saw you slipping out the back door, baby... Past two days have been fairly interesting. I grew a backbone! Woohoo! xp Read lots of Deathnote. Actually starting to get things figured out. Transferring, finances, finishing off the semester well... Getting back into the swing of things feels nice after my little break from life. Not that my break didn't have it's benefits. My Nam paper, however, can be finished tomorrow. I've been in the library FOREVER and am just looking forward to taking a shower, making my lasagna, and settling into the couch with Name of the Wind. I've been largely ignoring it due to my Deathnote induced trance, but bookstores closing and having no working computer should help me focus again. At least I finished the Spiegelman. Twas reading way too many things at once, if we include Wolf at the Table and Invisible Monsters. >< This has been for the most part, a very boring entry. I don't know why anyone would care about my reading habits. I should go to Barnes & Noble anyways and see if they need summer help. Really, with the vacation out of the way, there's nothing left for me at Disney. I mean, I love my job...but I would trade it for one I just like if it means more hours. Ooh, and the second Cavvy is awesome. :) And freakishly clean. I need to start piling more of my shit in there.
And...I guess that's it. Talked to nice guy from PolySci after the Cold War lecture today. He was nice, as is to be expected. And knew who John Sinclair was, giving him and the general conversation bonus points. John Sinclair jokes are no fun unless somebody gets them. xp Current Mood: tired Current Music: OkGo

06:47 am - Do you believe that we are all innately good... I just finished my first history exam. I am so sick of Korea and containment that it's not even funny. :p I think I did really good on that essay though. The Fair Deal one on the other hand...meh. We'll see. However, it feels nice to have that out of the way. I should've done it a long time ago. But doesn't homework always feel like that. xp Now I just need to do my Lit extra credit for Monday. Justin's coming in tomorrow though (sidenote: :D !!) so that probably won't get done until Sunday. Or possibly Monday. Which is fine, Lord knows I have enough time on Mondays. But hopefully I can at least find the time to re-read the works tomorrow. That would be good, get them fresh in my mind. I really want to write one on the Eliot piece. It was beautiful. And Frost's "Home Burial". I think those are too recent though. Sucks that we did all the good poetry after the midterm. xp Please, no more William C. Williams. I am finding myself quickly disillusioned with the red wheelbarrow. *yawn* I'm tired. Bed. Yeah, there's an idea. Assuming my dog will let me sleep. -_- She's going mental. Part of the reason my homework took so long, she went ballistic every time I left her side (which meant going to the computer three feet away, mind you). She was also acting kinda freaky. I'm really not looking forward to going into the hallway now.
It's kinda strange when someone tells you something that should surprise you in a negative way, but it does just the opposite because you now feel like you can be more open and honest with that person without fear of harsh judgement. Yeah. I don't know if I was a bad person for telling her it was all right, but it's what I would've wanted to hear. It's was I DO want to hear. That it's okay. That I'm only human. That yeah, it happens. Talking with her helped more than she will ever know.
But...I digress. Directions. Bed. That's what's happening. Current Mood: tired

03:46 pm - There are many things that I would like to say to you... Hm. What's going on... It's Sunday and I don't work. I wish it was really nice outside. I'm probably going to go to the mall a bit, then read a book. I want to color later. I just really feel like relaxing before jumping into the swing of school again. Although I pretty much miss it. I bore easily without it. I think I definitely need to take a class this summer. Western Civ to 1600 with Broyles, maybe? I'll miss my Weintz and Flemming classes. Not just this summer, but next year too. You know what they say though, all good things... /cliche
Let's see, what else... Disney is kind of odd lately. I miss our old managers. Kevin has a show I'll probably go to in April. That's exciting. He's gotten so good. Les Mis on Thursday, hopefully. I'm kinda addicted to Twitter. I need to get up and do something today. I think I'm going to dye my hair again. More brown, and do the streak purple. Maybe I should do that tonight. Go to Sally's now. I wonder if Kayla's free later... Yeah. Good plan. :) *ignores elephant*

04:30 pm - I could sit for hours finding new ways to be awed each minute... Today has been interesting. I woke up extremely late. Like, to Kayla's phone call. Then our German skit got moved again. Which I guess is fine, but I would've been happy to have this one over with. Then after class we saw some guys with pamphlets, clip boards, and sandwich boards outside the library. So I decided to engage. :p A lot of what they were saying did make sense, but A. They were too extreme for any economic policy, B. They talked in too much theoretical bullshit and not enough real world applications, and C. I enjoy playing devil's advocate. So that was a nice half hour long debate. In the freezing cold. xp Kayla hates me now. But I had fun. Then we caught TB, and now we're here. In the learning center computer lab, as usual. I haven't decided if I'm going to Lit yet. I don't feel well and getting pissed off does not sound fun. Plus I dont really need to...I don't know. We'll see. Either way I need to get some Poly Sci done tonight. And probably start Chapter 6 of German. But never the less, here's a survey to procrastinate.

03:01 pm - Not an inch more room to self destruct...
Yikes. I have so much to do this weekend. Or that I should do. I have seven essays/articles to read for Poly Sci (2 on mercantalism, 2 on economic liberalism, 2 on terrorism, and one on marxism) along with four of our assignment questions. I also need to date, number and organize said essays/articles/handouts if I want any hope at all for future studying. I need to finish my German workbook and do the new chapter's flashcards at least. It would also be nice to start going over them with Kayla and possibly get my labs done for Chapter 6. I should also e-mail Amber (I think that's her name?) to make sure she send me her lines for the skit so that I can print and send out final copies. And then I need to do Lit. This is vague because I really don't know where to begin there. I have to start my paper for sure, and I definitely have some short stories to read. Then I should start going through the list of vocab for the midterm, meaning I need to find one of my glossaries of literary terms, and making sure I'm prepared to answer any of the 17 short answer questions and 8 of the 12 essay questions. Meaning a lot of going back over the stories, chapters, and notes I've already read/taken. Thank God I have no History homework.
I got a 92 on my first History paper, which I guess isn't terrible. I need to keep in mind that I didn't write a new one, just recycled one from my first semester of History. Plus I still have over 100 in that class. I don't know, I could do better though. I need to start cracking down.
In other news...Warren G. Harding was an idiot. Just throwing that one out there. And I'm obsessed with checking the mail. Still no college replies. :\ I don't see why. I'm kinda awesome! How hard of a decision can it be. :p
Oh, and Kayla gave me her old laptop!! :D I'm so freaking excited. My dad needs to work on it some, but... ! I may have just been saved from the '97 Compaq Presario desktop! So she's pretty much the coolest.

05:38 pm - Shine on till tomorrow...
Hm. So I'd like to take a moment to talk about my friend Kayla. She is awesome. I don't think I stress enough how awesome. Reading through old entries she even seems kind of overlooked. Especially after the fall of senior year, which makes sense, since that's not only when we first really started fighting bad but had the issue. Things change people. I changed, she changed, and our new selves grew on each other quite awkwardly. But even so, there has always seemed to be a certain understanding that our friendship transcends all our little fights and issues. She could scream at me or worse, not say anything at all, but I know if I need her the next day, hour, minute, second she'll be there. I've only been afraid of losing her once. I don't censor myself around her, mostly because I don't feel like I need to. There is no worry that she suddenly won't like me or will judge me harshly. If I didn't know that before she's certainly proved it lately. She's the person in my life I see the most besides family and I like it that way. She's never someone that I don't want to see and when she annoys me it's fleeting (plus I'm quite aware that I'm at least 6x more annoying at my best. poor girl puts up with a lot). It's even odd to say "besides family" because she is family. I actually probably see her as much, and she's in my house drinking our beverages and watching our DVR enough. :p Plus our friendship has that family-like quality of unconditional love. I don't think there's anything she can do that I wouldn't be able to forgive her for.
But anyways, on to survey fun!

09:58 am - Be still and know that he is God...
So last night was really good. 2/3 bands rocked a bit. Lauren's friends were nice. I'd go to another show. I don't know what else to say. I just had fun. It's more fun to be up by the stage when you know the bassist. :)
Work was all right too. We were about $600 off but...coulda been worse. Plus we had seven HSM3's in. No thanks to me though. :( I guess Great Lakes Crossing kicked our ass. Screw them. Who the hell goes to Great Lakes Crossing? *wants Johnny Rockets...hard*
So I really miss Justin lately, speaking of Johhny Rockets. His responses to my note on Facebook set me off, then we had a nice chat via text. It was sweet, heartfelt, and makes me want to call him more. He really is such a good friend to me. I barely remember how I got along before him. :p I really can't wait until Spring Break. For many reasons, but seeing Justin is top of the list.
I don't know what else is going on. College apps are in. Now I just need to send transcripts. I'm only slightly nervous. If CMU and WMU don't take me they're morons. Right now my order goes UMich, State, WMU, CMU. Or maybe State, UMich, WMU, CMU. I'm not quite sure. Oakland is just floating along the bottom like a safety net. But I'd almost rather off myself then spend two more years here. (Okay, not really. But leaving is so close I can taste it. Tastes kinda like strawberries.) I wish the online transcript request wasn't so stupid. I also wish that UMich didn't want DHS transcripts, my ACT score, and my soul. But what can you do. :\
I guess I had a lot more to say then I thought. I need to get ready for church. Frankly I'm surprised I got up in time. But it's good, after a couple days sleeping in until 2. Plus I feel like I don't go as much as I'd like. God needs some praise. He's been blessing me with a lot of good in my life. Not that he doesn't always deserve praise. But while things are good is literally the very least I can do. Plus I have plenty of things to pray about right now and haven't done very good on my own.

09:58 pm - Think about it...
Well, two down one to go on the U of M essays. After that it will be two down two to go on applications in general, but the Western and Central's apps should be easy. Tomorrow I need to call Dakota, the ACT people, and Collegeboard and get my info sent. Tuesday I need to send transcripts.
Eep.
I still need to buy my Toni Morrison book for Lit. It's the last thing we read, but I want to read it once before that comes up. Being familiar with the text should help my ability to be analytical. Money kinda sucks right now though. And by kinda I mean really does. A lot.
But the good news is the new season of Lost started. xD And...each passing day is a day closer to summer. And...okay, I'm kinda stretching here. But I do have one guranteed source of happiness in my life. Maybe I'll make some popcorn.

[being hurt again, abandoned again, yet again not chosen] I'm beginning to see my casual, nonchalant approach for what it is, or rather, was...a defense mechanism. I was never casual. I was scared. And though I'm given no reason to be scared now, no excuse for anything but the strictest confidence... I guess the past just stays with us sometimes. Big words are a big risk leading to big fears. There's more at stake this time around. I could come out of this really scarred, But I don't think I care enough to stop.
And he touched me. And I let him love me. So let that be my story.

09:00 pm - But I must confess... A couple things need to be redefined for my life to make any sense right now.
Closure. Friend. Right. Serious.
Closure is kind of easy. I'm coming to understand it as a making sense of the past, regardless of present circumstances. The others a bit more tricky. Morally grey. Of course, this is from my own biased viewpoint. I know many others who would disagree.
In other news the semester has officially started (finally). My International Politics class is filled with testosterone, but Prof. Flemming is very much on as usual. Monday is the beginning of German and Contemporary American Lit., one of which I'm excited for (hint: it has little to do with David Hasselhoff). In all honesty I don't mind the idea of being trapped on campus all day Mondays and Wednesdays. Hopefully I'll be able to get work done because lord knows I'll have a lot of it. And The Changing of America: 1945 to Present starts Tuesday with Weintz which is, of course, the highlight of my semester. Really, Weintz and Flemming are two reasons I'm actually grateful for these past two years at MCC as they and their classes have really helped shape me academically.
Now I just have the rest of the weekend to fill up before getting fully back into the swing of things. Let it begin.
